Details of Pension-Compensation Paid to the NSG Personnel

Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to State:-

(a) the total number of the National Security Guard commandos killed/injured/paralyzed during the Mumbai terrorist attacks on 26 November, 2008;
(b) whether the Government has provided any financial assistance to the injured/paralyzed/family members of such personnel; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government to protect the service of injured/paralyzed personnel and provide medical facilities?

ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI R.P.N. SINGH)

(a) In the Mumbai operation OP Black Tornado on 26.11.2008, 02 NSG Commandos were killed and 14 others were declared as battle injury (Fatal battle/ Non Fatal casualty).

(b) & (c) – The details of pension and compensations paid to the Next of Kin (NOK) of the deceased and compensations paid to the injured NSG personnel, who participated in Mumbai terror attack in 2008, are mentioned in Annexure. Those officers who were injured during Mumbai attack in performance of their bonafide duty were accorded ‘Battle Casualty’ status. Such Officers are not compulsorily retired but retained in service as per the recommendation of Medical Authorities. All medical facilities are being provided as per their entitlements.
