To take stock of the emerging security situation in the
three districts of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar, a civil-military liaison
conference was held today at Dharmund.
The conference assumes significance in view of the
forthcoming elections, various religious yatras especially Amarnath Yatra and
Darbar movement.
Important issues like synergy between civil administration,
J&K Police and Army to negate any threat to peace and harmony in the area,
sharing of intelligence between J&K Police and Army, requirement to keep
NH-1A and NH-1-B open at all times by reducing the response time during
landslides/ traffic jams and establishment of joint control rooms, were
discussed in the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, the General Officer Commanding,
Delta Forces aid that peace in three districts of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar has
largely been possible due to joint efforts of Civil Administrations and
Security Forces. “We are now entering into yet another critical phase, which
will commence with the conduct of Parliamentary elections on April 17 and culminate with the conduct of Assembly
Elections in the latter half of the year during which there will be the annual
Amarnath and other religious yatras as also the bi-annual move of Durbar, he
added.
