11 CRPF men on poll duty hurt in mishap

Thoubal, April 06 2014 : At least 11 CRPF personnel deputed for poll duty for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, which is set to go to polls on April 9 and a driver were injured in a road accident along Imphal-Moreh route today.

According to sources, the mishap occurred when a Truck carrying the CRPF personnel developed a mechanical snag while climbing a steep side on the highway and went backwards and hit a bus also carrying CRPF personnel for poll duty, which was behind the truck.

The impact of the collision sent the two vehicles hurtling down a gorge about 70 to 80 feet by the roadside.

All the CRPF personnel belong to the 143 Bn CRPF with its headquarters at Lamphel (B Coy).

Three of them are stated to be grievously injured.

The mishap took place at a place about 15 kms away from Moreh police station.

The injured civilian driver has been identified as Hidam Nanao Singh (25) son of H Tomba of Lairen Sajik under Lamshang PS while the CRPF men have been identified as ASI (810695849) Md Shah (53); Havildar (9338282468) Rabinson; Havildar (840410074) Azad Singh Chauhan; Constable (045031072) Raja Badir (33), Constable (045050111) Birendra Singh (29); Constable (031433674) Sadasivapati (34); Constable 031433398) Pramod Singh (33); Constable 115057825) Kattimani (25); Constable (943313552) PK Ekka (45); Constable (055122872) MG Singh (27) and Constable (115056917) Mohite Jaydeep) .

All the injured were treated at Moreh hospital with MO-in-charge Dr Priyokumar in attendance.


On immediately receiving the news of the mishap, ADC of Moreh Robert Ksh (IAS) rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
