Director General Assam Rifles Addresses Troops

Lt Gen RK Rana, Director General Assam Rifles addressed the troops of IGAR (South) on his visit to the formation from 28 to 30 May 2014. The Director General emphasised that the troops of the Assam Rifles have a great responsibility on their shoulders being the ‘Sentinels of the North East’.

The conduct of each soldier should be exemplary, as they are the ambassadors of the Assam Rifles in the state of Manipur. He also called on the troops to work hand in hand with the people of Manipur to bring in an era of peace and development in Manipur, according to a press release of PRO IGAR(S).

AR conducts computer courses for youth at VTC Jalukie town

As part of employment through skill development programme of youth, 18 Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of HQ 6 Sect AR has been sponsoring youth from the Peren district for Computer Courses at Vocational Training Centre (VTC), Jalukie.

In a press release, IGAR (N)’s PRO stated that the aim of the course was to develop skills in computer literacy and empower the youth for seeking employment. The first batch of 36 students from Jalukie and neighbouring villages successfully completed the computer course on March 28 and the second batch, which includes 31 students, is undergoing training.  6 Sector Assam Rifles Commander along with commandant, 18 Assam Rifles interacted with the students at VTC and motivated them to obtain maximum benefit from the course. He also interacted with the GBs and village elders of villages near Jalukie and assured them of continued assistance from AR. Meanwhile, GBs and local population expressed gratitude to AR for undertaking such ventures.

Director General Assam Rifles visits Manipur

IMPHAL, May 28: Lieutenant General R K Rana, Director General Assam Rifles arrived in the state on a two day visit to HQ IGAR(S), informed a statement of the PRO IGAR (S).

It said during his visit, the DGAR was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the State by IGAR(S) and reviewed the operational preparedness of the formation.

He lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles for maintenance of peace and harmony in the State and appreciated the efforts of IGAR(S) and further conveyed his support to various developmental projects in the state in coordination with the civil administration and local populace, it said.

Earlier in the day the Director General Assam Rifles along with IGAR(S) called on the Governor of Manipur, VK Duggal and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and assured the full cooperation of the Assam Rifles in all fields for the overall development of the State, said the HQ IGAR (S) in a press release.
