Assam Rifles apprehends four with arms

Personnel of the Assam Rifles, in three separate incidents, apprehended four persons in possession of arms and ammunition.

A press note from the PRO, Assam Rifles informed that on May 18, an operation was launched in the Purana Bazaar area by troops of the 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 6 Sector, Assam Rifles. The troops tracked and intercepted one Atoka Zhimomi (30) and recovered three .22 pistols along with magazines. The apprehended individual was later handed over to the East Police Station, Dimapur.

On May 16, the AR personnel apprehended two NSCN (K) cadres from Phom Colony, Changtongya. They have been identified as Pvt Lima Akhham (25) and Pvt Takaitaba Ao (28). One Muzzle Loading Rifle (Country Made) and “incriminating documents” were recovered from the apprehended persons. They were then handed over to Changtongya Police Station.

In another incident on May 18, troops of the 46 AR apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre at Zunheboto Track (03 Km East of Bn HQ, Phek), while the individual was travelling from Kotisu Basti to Phek Town.  The cadre has been identified as Sergeant Beduzo Venuh (21). One 9 mm pistol with magazine and three live rounds were recovered from the cadre’s possession. He was later handed over to Phek Police Station.
